Well, as followers of the Fuckin Hiss thread will know, Cimple porvided a temporary fix (or Band Aid fix as DFace would say Smile).

I've now also been in touch with James who may or may not be able to do it due to a busy schedule.

He seems to think the hiss stems from the DAC and that there's some aliasing going on.  Because of the larger values of parts back in the day, it could be that the reissue models used newer parts that didn't play well in the circuit design.

Anyway.  Watch this space.  This will be the 3rd time since 2005 I've had it serviced for the same problem.  I can't even imagine the SP sound without the hiss now.
