the sp1200 and the emax have different filter chips so thats why they sound different. emulatorarchive has the names of all the filter chips which give emu 's their sounds |

For those of you that have used both the EMAX and the Akai s950....
What would you say had better filters? What bit rate are they running, and most user friendly? Im on the market for a rack sampler, so I thought I'd ask. The akai/sp have been a long term relationship, and does the job...so does the EMax have bigger tits? _________________ |M0NSt3R C00KI3 P!NWh33L| |

I 'm in!
I catch one after selling my SP12 Turbo, it stays unused since i bought it, but now i try to learn everything on it.
Actually i prefer its sound over SP because it can sound cleaner, and dirtier also.
From 42khz to 10 khz...A world of great aliasing, or not. The filter is beautiful too, i think! |

i should get to using mine for some beats, havent really messed with it much though i did replace the backlight on it recently. emax is def a heavy sound, havent really checked the filters out but the chorus effect was kind of crazy. i got a 950 too but i think emax is a little more flexible in sound though 950 is nice for chopping. on the other hand i really dont like having to use rack samplers too much anymore....it gets kind of annoying having to use another set of disks and stare at more little screens. on the other hand, if all you had to make beats on was a mpc2kxl, emax 1 would have you doing some damage. |
