To get the MAXIMUM of sampling time left I save to a floppy, wipe all internal sounds from the special menu, and then load all the sounds, the longest first and the shortest last. This re-arranges the samples in the memory blocs, and let you sample the remaining sampling time as one long sample and not divided into 0.01 sec's. Works every time.

Your disk drive is dead? Or you want one that works with both HD and DD disks?
Take your (or your friends) old MPC2000XL drive (Sony MPF520-2) and switch the jumpers so that it looks like this (pic is upside down according to the schematics under):

Set G1/G2 to F1/F2

Set E1/E2 to E2/D2

Set C1/B1 to B1/A1

Voila! This drive is a bit smaller than the original, so you'll have a small gap in the upper front, but that's how the expensive Forat drive is too.

I bet we can get a lot of drives with jumpers to work, now that we can understand what settings the drive should be set to to work with the SP.

Excellent lateral thinking.  I will try this.

^^nice info. Thanks.
Do you know that the price range for this drive is from 280$ - 700$ ?
Get three or four of these drives and trade them for a complete SP Very Happy
Seem to be very rare

I found this nice page with lots of testet drives for the Amiga. I think it should be possible to use this also with the SP1200:
