Emax rack & MPC2Kxl midi  Reply with quote

Hi all,
I've gotten some nice results with my mpc2kxl and emax rack setup, but my workflow is very limited by the way im currently using them both together. Ive got the two connected via midi- but at the moment im recording sounds from the emax into the mpc because trying to control the emax via the mpc midi seems very limited.

as an example, i cant control velocity, pitch, envelope settings on the emax with the mpc.

can anyone help? where am i going wrong here?

Thanks people.

why wouldnt you just set those parameters on the sampler?

if you look in the manual many parameters of the emax are assignable by midi

Hey man, thanks for your reply.

I forgot to mention- its an emax rack so im sequencing on the mpc.  at the moment any pitch, velocity changes i make on the mpc sequencer are not mirrored on the emax.

hope that clears things up a bit

yeah i get what youre sayin i understood from your first post.

you can trigger different velocity and different pitches from the mpc i have an mpc and emax rack right here.  if you are trying to do it from your program settings in your mpc you are doing it backwards.  that is for applying changes to samples in the mpc.  you can set the emax to vel sensitive and you can span your samples across many keys to use different pitch.  these are basic functions of any sampler.

Aiight, im with ya.

Was hoping the emax would pick up on pitch changes i made in the program screen on the mpc.  Too bad.  I'm using the emax for drums too- spanning a sample across many keys seems a bit far fetched for that purpose.

You using yours for drums?

yeah you can pitch a drum sample up and down very easily by editing the assignment in the emax.

i use mine as a compliment for my sp.  samples and bass mostly

im copping a small keyboard to go with this shit too man. you got any drum sounds out of the emax that compare to ya sp? interested if any cats managed to get a sound close to those on the sp's channel 1 and 2, particularly for kick drums.
