Akai MPC - Basic Advice and Workflows
Hello.
Just copped a mint MPC3K to use for a show. I've never used one and I'm RTFM and I'm sure its second nature to you lot but I've got 1 week to program an entire live set on it so I need all the help I can get.
First off, just wondered about the OS version. Its 3.0.
1. Do I need 3.1 for SCSI? Cause it doesn't come up in the Disk Menu? I've got a Zip drive from a 3rd party.
2. And where do I check the RAM and system in general? Doesn't seem to be on main page?
Coming from an SP background though, I must say, its much deeper and much more versatile. But it doesn't seem as instant (wouldn't though cause I'm in the Emu mindset). I've got no sounds so I'm loading some up and getting to grips with the whole "program" structure Akai uses. Haven't done that since the 950 15 years ago.

yeah 3.0 is old. im pretty sure theres a way to access the scsi with it. i have never used this version tho.
for the ram just go to DISK>LOAD and on the right it shows you how much free sound memory you have. mine says 32636K for 32MB

I also have 3.11 roms if you need to get a copy of em because i have upgraded to rohan's 3.5 which i recommend to any 3000 users. _________________
