S950 Floppy Backups on PC  Reply with quote

Another 950 Question Smile
I want to backup my 950 floppy disks on PC (Win XP) and I'm looking for a solution.
I've tried the OmniFlop with its driver but it doesn't work.

Is there any other software and driver to do an image of a floppy disk?
I just want to backup and dont need to open the soundfiles on PC.

Or could it be that the problem is the PC Floppy?? (It work with PC Disks)

I'm thankful for any info.

peace

Thank you. I've found out that I should use another disk format.
It's no problem with the OmniFlop driver and program under winXP. I tried it with the Akai S Series HD 1600kb (instead of the s950 HD 1440kb) setting cause I found something on a website that the s950 uses 10 sectors per track blabla Smile It works great.

Ok for the people who want to backup their Disks do the following:

1. Download OmniFlop and install the driver for the disk drive (for installation of the driver see the user guide.pdf)

2. start OmniFlop and choose Read Disk -> Next -> Floppy A and deselect "Automatic detect format" -> Next -> choose the format "AKAI S Series HD 1600" and there you go.

To write the disk image back on another floppy you need to format the floppy disk in that same format (AKAI S Series HD 1600) before.

Now theres no problem to share Akai s950 floppys over the net in theory (who really want to share samples??  Rolling Eyes )

Oh and I will try the program with s900 floppys too and will tell you if it works.

peace
