2.5 sec per sample..  Reply with quote

wassup. i am putting this here cause it might be a stupid question.
let's say i got like 6.5 sec sampling time left.. why does my sp let me sample only up to 2.3 sec.. <i know it's not that much of a difference> all the sounds are stored in bank A.. when i have an empty project with no samples in the machine I can sample 2.5 sec.. weird I think.
Please explain

You have probably sampled longer samples and then truncated them. After you have sampled and truncated a sample the SP probably gave you a "brand new ROM partition" so that you could sample the maximum of 2.5 sec's. So all of your samples are probably spread around all those 4 partitions. What pad bank you have assigned your samples too has nothing to do with the memory: you can use all of your memory in any bank.

Try to save everything on a disk and reload the beat to see if the SP is clever enough to load everything into just one memory part.

This is why I always try to sample the longest samples first, then truncate and then sample shorter samples towards the end. If you do it otherwise you may end up with sampling time spread around in 4 super small parts that you are not able to use. Even tho' this has never been a problem to me, I vary rarely use up all of the SPs memory.
