MPC 3000 TRACKING   Reply with quote

How do most of you mpc users choose to track Drums and samples out of your machines? When I play my beats out of the MP into my DAW my signal flow is: Stereo outs mpc > 002 Input 1+2 . Now this is just for playback purposes.. pretty straight forward, but when i play my beats one side is always hotter?? Now i always sample my drums in mono and loops in stereo. When I want to go and actually track a beat, is it common practice to do multiple passes out of the stereo outs or instead use the multiple outs ? Do you track your drums out to stereo track? or is it preferred to track each sample to its own mono track for further manipulation? I know its a bit much but I would love some inside as how to go about this properly. Thanks!

You can test the stereo output by playing a stereo sample with equal left and right. If in Logic, the tone generator will do this (sine wave) and I remember something similar in PT.  When you play that sample out of the stereo out, then L should = R.  If it doesn't it might because:

1) cables aren't matched or one is faulty.
2) one of your stereo outputs is faulty
3) either the L or R channel on your mixer / interface is dodgy or you've inadvertently set different nominal levels.
