my display randomly goes blank when i change commands..help!  Reply with quote

hey all
just tonight this started to happen. i have a noritake vacuum display in my sp1200, been working fine for a few years now since i put it in.
so tonight i was making a beat and when i started to change commands, say bring up the erase y/n screen or access disk save sounds the screen would go blank. if i hit the enter button or pressed another button it would return. seems kind of intermittent but only happens durring function changes like this.
everytime i boot up the display is fine, but once it begins loading sounds it goes blank even though the sampler itself functions fine.

anyone have any ideas what could cause this to happen? it sucks.

Since it happens randomly you could check the soldering, maybe the problem relies on bad connections.

yeah i'd have to agree that its a either a physical connection issue or and unknown (maybe vfd issue-since they new ingeneral they're could be unknowns not experianced yet...) but the soldering connection could be it. if it happens when you change function (ie: pressure on faceplate or buttons etc.etc) then a connection issue could be it..
