Basically, its a frequency emitting chip which can be scanned and picked up by the police. You get a registration form to send of to the manufacturer (I think - haven't done it yet) and they then log the instrument on the national database.
Here's the link: www.chiptrac.com
Yeah thanks man. Its all clean inside - the battery looks like its starting to seap though!
Good luck. _________________ www.myspace.com/djdrinks |

Well I think the Poly caps were polyester 4700pf and the new ones are 4700H.

Ok fellas,
I realise the pics don't show the exact lettering and numbering. I'll pop it open again this Sunday and post the info. _________________ www.myspace.com/djdrinks |

Hi,
I got the dreaded hiss on 5, 7 & 8 worse on 8.
Just when i'm ready to record some beats, grrrrrrr.
Wanted to know if the culprit is definitely these caps? looks that way to me.
Mr Drinks you have had yours changed by the pros all still good?
Has anyone sourced replacement caps? I know getting hold of the original 4700H ASC H4700 is gonna be impossible.
I really want to get this issue sorted asap.
Cheers. |

would also aprecciate an opinion -besides resolving the hiss issue- did the replacement caps appear to alter the sound of your machine?or does it still sound the same as you recall it? _________________ www.myspace.com/fyc

Hi fellas.
Sorry. I've been lame with this. I will try and check this weekend.
As for the sound, its much, much better though I now think channels 7 and 8 are dying (strange lack of HF on the unfiltered outs!) but I need to run some more tests. I would put this down to the caps again.
I will try and get those cap names out for you this weekend.

PSoul, I can now confirm that the capacitors are, indeed, the 4700 ASC H4700.
I hope this helps and apologies for the delay.

Cheers Drinks.
Were did you send your SP to get fixed again (couldn't find it in the previous thread)?
So they had the exact capacitors in stock? & it's the ones they didn't replace the capacitors on that are now going on your SP?
I think these are gonna be hard to source privately. |

Yup.
But then its not uncommon for service centres to stockpile legacy parts. Especially when they are announced to be disctontinued. I have bought a couple of SSMs for my SP or Juno - whichever packs it in first.
The place is www.cimplesolutions.com
