Sorry for the aggro fellas.  Hard day at work...    Sad

I was referring to a larger square black switch.  The pic you put up looks alot like my first grey SP.

I'm with Deta!l, round peg but serial on bottom too.  Like Pilchard's though, BLACK.

Ok.  Thanks for the insight and for taking time to post up a pic.

I was wondering whether there could be a link between the OPAMPS and the hiss on the outs?

Maybe we can find out whose got the hiss issue and find out what model SP they have and try to come up with a correlation.

Again, apologies.  I'll make it up with my next beat  Wink

all them joints sound the same except the reissue and one can almost barely tell then. SP is a SP...same sequencer, same workflow so thats all that really matters.

I found that cleaning your SP and servicing the power supply helps get rid of some of the hum.

Also, set your RT parameter to less than or 5 greater then 800 and that really eliminates the freq added when sampling/playback.

Plus..some of you might want to clean your mix out and not just the 8 outs.

What I was trying to get at was the hiss (not hum) on the outputs.  It is constant and not related to sampling frequency.

As for cleanliness, my SP is very clean so its not that either (I've resoldered dirty connections).

Because some users on here report hissy outputs, I am trying to establish whether there could be a link between that and the issue models which, as far as I can tell, are identical save for the OPAMPS/SSM swap.

Also, I have no model number (just serial) but it is indeed a round switch.

As for all of them sounding the same, my grey SP sounded very different when it was maxed out.

easy now.

what do you mean by 'maxed' out. I have a clean greyboy from japan and I noticed the hiss went away after servicing the psu and adjusting the rt to under 800.

That's interesting guys...I thought there were only 2 different re-issue series, looks like there are more...
I know that the last re-issue was called something like "the final edition" and it had a golden plate with a limited number on it.

Drinks : I have one hissy output on my black first re-issue.

So much for that theory...

How does one reset the RT without an oscilloscope?

Once you enter the phase and open the machine there is a trim knob that you toggle left and right to adjust the RT.

There are a couple buttons you have to press and "folders" to sift thru that require "y" and "n" answers so let me get home and run it on my machine again to make sure I remember correctly. I'll get back to you.

so I realize after all this info-we still need to get some idea of the small differences in sound between these three-
i guess its hard to compare the three without actually using the three- but now im really curious-
