Is it possible to turn off the blue backlight to extend its life span? I don't need a backlight during daylight. _________________ Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 2.33 GHz 3 GB WinXP Home SP3 / Cubase 4 (4.5.2 Build 274) / Cubase 5 (5.0.1 Build 147) / Reason 2.5 (Build 312) / Creamware Luna (Scope 5.0.2603) / M-Audio Axiom 25 (4.2.0.3v4) / NI Maschine (1.1.0) / Behringer BCF2000 (V1.2.1.3) |

It's very possible to turn off the backlight when not in use. Should be as easy as dropping in a switch on the VCC pin to the backlight |

Changing the backlight is very easy, i did it with my sp12 that i sold. You just need to desolder it, than remove it and solder in the new foil. Takes half an hour.
You can also get brand new LCD at ebay for 3 euro, not the original but the same type. |

Cheers Tony,
Not OG but at that price it's a bargain for a backup.
Now I just got to decide what colour to get? _________________ "Sh!tty iz pretty" |

This one here looks like the display Forat got in stock..
If anybody knows for certain..drop a line. Anyway, that green on black looks pretty ill.
To Lotuz's inquiry...other than the mod. referenced, I do not believe you can disengage the backlight when the unit is powered up to preserve the life. Only sampler I know of that does that is the MPC3000.
Mr. Macks came up on that white on black..real nice.

Too bad. Then I'll only work at night.
The deep blue one looks hot btw.

I think i've also seen some displays with LED backlight, but don't know if they work. Would be pretty nice, LED backlights last much longer than that el foil |
