So I got this SP1200, it's a black "reissue" but it has the characteristics of the grey SP1200...fuse on the back, flip power switch, power supply gets super hot after a bit, and it's got that screw on the back that I always thought when I saw pics was just a scew....well when I open it up, there is a big ass thing on the other side that gets super hot when it's turned on for a bit, and it's got two wires trailing off to, two other points on the SP...does anyone know what it is? I did a search, but couldn't find anything on it...

Hey Mike, looks like a mod to me. I've seen sp-12's with that screw in the same spot too but I've never seen the inside. You're missing your heat sink and my guess this replaced it. Not a pro but that's my .02.

LT, so it's a resistor, I got that, I guess I didn't understand why some have it, some don't, I'd lean toward it being a mod as well..I'm guessing the power supply was bad at one time so they hooked that up? I dunno, maybe it was factory that way though, since I"ve seen a few on the Bay with the same thing...
