Why is my SP1200 making a hiss noise when recording samples?Hi
I got this sp 1200 not long ago, some clips on some outs but hey its old right, its the reissue though. I was recording samples last week and it was fine, now all of a sudden the samples I try and record, records horrible hiss to, groundloop? Whats happened, can it be the bay of electrical inserts?
Im really needing this machine to work asap, all help would be great.
Im recording from my DJ mixer to the sp 1200......if this helps.
Peace

the SP abhors open output channels while sampling. make sure all of your output channels on the mixing console are either set to their lowest velocity or muted entirely—i prefer the latter. If you don't mute all 8 channels, yes, you will hear static or distorted samples.

I had a bad ground loop running through my SP1200, a serious hum. When I moved ALL the gear connected to the SP to the same outlet, it disappeared.
Good luck with the machine, it's truly lovely!

Thanks for the tips, I think my electrical source is just fed up, i'll try and rearrange it and try to mute the channels, guess I'll have to listen back from headphones. Take care
