Using Mixers With SPI was just wondering how many of you guys use a mixer in conjunction with your SP. Is it recommended? I've been thinking about getting one myself.

It's highly recommended 
the 8-outs really make the unit so much better.
Without it you'll experience sounds cutting off each other alot (at least i did)

..it really all depends. there are alot of ways you can do mixes out on the sp1200.
an alternative to a mixer would be to buy some decent gear for a mono signal chain and use smpte to individually record the 8 tracks down through the chain, then do final mixes/eq in the digital workstation.
