So I recently saw this ad for an SP 1200.

I receieved the following email from the seller after enquiring about it. I'm wondering if this is legit or simply a scam. What do you guys think?

For the moment I am in England with some business. Anyway, the shipping will be free and return policy included. I will tell you from the beginning that if you decide to move forward with the transaction, I will use Buysafe to complete the sale. They offer a very good service, a 10 day money back guarantee starting the day you receive the item and they guarantee that you receive the item exactly as described. So, if you are still interested let me know and I will explain the complete process.

Here's the second email I just received.

As I said in my first email I will explain how BuySafe works. BuySafe is a third party service used for Internet transactions to make them safer and to protect both parties, the buyer and the seller. You will have a 10 day return policy too so you will be sure that you receive the item exactly as described. I am using their services because i had to leave with business and I couldn`t find somebody else to take care of the transaction for me. If you haven`t used BuySafe before I will explain how they work:

They already have the item in their custody packed, insured and ready for shipping. They will contact you with all the details of this sale (they will send you an invoice ) and with the payment instructions. You will send the payment to one of their agents that is handling our transaction and after that you will send them the payment information so they can verify It. I will have to make you aware of the fact that I don`t know the agent name because they change it in every transaction for security reasons.As soon as they do that the shipping process will start. After you receive the item you will have a 10 day return policy, in this time you will have to decide if you accept it or not. If you do then you will notify them that you accept it so they can send me the payment. If not, they will give you a complete refund and return the item on my expense. I will need your full name and shipping address so I can have them contact you with your invoice and payment instructions.

That would be a scam this is the new thing on Craigslist to say your out of the country or state don't buy it!

never buy anything off of craigslist where you dont meet them in person is my rule. all them long bs emails about blah blah are the sure sign of a scam. many of us in teh same area (NY/NJ) have gotten emails similar to that when selling stuff.

i purchased my first sp1200 from Rouge Music and they packed it well! unfortunately i had to sell it...

im sure another lovely sp1200 will come my way soon.

Yeah, it's a scam. My boy saw that same ad on craigslist Houston and tried to buy - he got the same B.S. about shipping and "buysafe" and being in England. My boy called him on his bluff and asked for his telephone number to discuss the details... the seller said that he cannot speak on the cell phone because his job is paying for the phone.

I can't beleive someone would try to take advantage of another who's trying to improve the world by offering the art of music. Stuff like this gets me pissed. Watch out for these scams, don't get taken!!!

Yeah, I saw that ad on craigslist houston too.
It isn't listed there anymore but I got the same reply from it.
He's also got this MPC 4000 posted in Memphis:
