ok heres a rar folder of the snds for 3k/60 and wavs for whoever else wants to convert them and open them. audio quality isnt important just that all the chops are the same for everyone testing.

Standard rock beat pattern (ie. kick, hat, snare, hat, kick, kick, snare, hat...) Also, consider adding a few double kicks (ie. ba-boom, boom, bap type pattern).
92 bpm
16th note swing @ 67%
184 bpm
8th note swing @ 67%
---------------------------------------------
92 bpm
16th note swing @ 71%
184 bpm
8th note swing @ 71%
I will be uploading the basic version from the 3k and then after a version with double kicks

New 2 The Swing ElementYo wassup yall I am new here. Wassup with the swing test? What is the purpose can you explain. I have been trying to get up speed with the swing function for sometime however never see or hear much of a difference when I mess around with the function on my own. I have an MPC2000 and MPC60II. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

swing is simply the percentage off of the selected timing you want your hit to quantize at
ex 67 percent is similar to a triplet hit
we want to compare the diffences in swing among machnes
3k 2k 60 sp

3k swingi know you're trying to find equivelents accross machines, but on the 60 (w/upgraded os) and the 3k, why not just use the 1/24th or 1/12th quantize to get that feel from the sp's tripplets? you can do swing as well, but why change the variable in the equastion? a 24th's a 24th weather its at 96 ppq or 24 ppq.
the swing on the 3k and 60 is the shit imho. the sp tripplets thou are unmistakable and pretty ideal.. ive used the 60 and 3k extensively for the last 15 years..
word. interested to see what comes out of it all..

Looks like no official determination was ever made. High swing percentages or values are cool for real swing timing or some cases triplet programming..notably 16T. It boils down to preference.
The SP swing seems to be really exaggerated when used for a slight late feel. Even just one notch in hi-res at double tempo pushes notes pretty late.
Comparably, in the 60 or 3000, you have more control. I don't even mess with percentage in the 'timing correct' screen. I just use amount because each amount increment simply pushes your ppqn quant by one notch respectively. So amount 1 = .49, 2 = .50, etc. I like to program drum parts with different amount values usually in 'later' mode to get a cool groove happenin. I'm curious if the 60 swing values shift a little more randomly due to the older CPU, the 3000 is pretty damn solid.
One thing I've noticed about the 3000 quant is that it seems to orient around the top note in each bar, which for some reason pushes it slightly earlier than the other notes in the measure. Something I've observed tracking the 3000 in Protools.
Anyway, I don't use actual swing timing much myself for general drum programming...could be 'apples vs. oranges' depending on the orientation.
