Stupid Question sorry but I don't know.I am lucky to own an S950 and Emu sp1200 from hard labour and budgeting but I haven't been able to use them because the sp had technical difficulties but will be good Very Soon!!!
I just want to know from all you everyday users out there how my cords should look... Do I use balanced 1/4" trs ?
thanks

ok I want unbalanced... but balanced cords won't disrupt a preferable unbalanced connection right?

You must use ¼" unbalanced with the SP1200, no exceptions.

I'm not too clear on the outputs filters able/disable thing. i read the faq, and it sounds like the two points mentioned tell you the oppposite.
"In order to use the filtered single outputs use a balanced cable and plug it in halfway. " so this says use a balanced cable plugged in half way to ABLE the filters
then this says...
"Gigaton says: First you must be plugged into your SP outputs via 1/4" trs (tip, ring, sleeve) snake, rather than a 1/4" mono(ring, sleeve) snake. Simply pull the 1/4" trs connection halfway out, or until it clicks, and you have effectively disabled the filter for that output." and this says use the balanced cable plugged half way to DISABLE the filter.
based on drumat!c and dfacd's tips, i purchased and have been using an unbalanced snake on the sp. i'm just not clear on how exactly the cables able or disable the filters though. could one of you please explain.
thanks

damn man. $80 for an unbalanced 1/4" snake? i got mine at guitar center for about $40. i'm pretty sure it was the 'live wire' brand. just google it.

when you asked about snakes you said nothing about wanting to disable the filters. you asked what kind of snakes go with the sp. the sp has unbalanced outs therefore you dont need a balanced cable.
