What type of floppy drive can I use with the SP100. I hate to pay 100 buck for a damn floppy drive. Let me know what type you guys have had sucess with.

Thanks for the replys. I found a drive that is still avaliable new for 30 bucks that works great with the SP1200.

whered you find it. i would assume any jumpe drive you could get to work on teh 1200

Hi everybody! I'm new to this forum, but definitely not to the SP. I'm excited that such a place exists, thank you Dface!

I was wondering if anyone has figured out how to use an HD Floppy? I know Forat sells them, but I haven't been able to get it to work myself. I have a bunch of gear with jumpered drives and I've tried most of them. I found the drives in my EPS and Emax are direct replacements, but only DD. The drives from my ASR and various other pieces with HD floppies don't work when jumpered to 0. Any thoughts? I'd be happy to discuss in pm if anybody has info. I'll definitely make it worth your while. Thanks again!

the original floppy that came with the first run of mpc2000xl machines is HD drive but it works in the sp.

Alright, I'm nearly there, but I still need some help. I have the sony mpf420-1, can anybody show me whats up with the jumpers please. I found some directions online and tried both 0 and 1, but it still didn't work. There are a bunch of other jumpers on this drive and I'm assuming they are important too. Thanks for your help!

theres only so many combos. if i knew id tell you. but my advice is try every possibilty you can. or get one of these clowns to post a pic of there jumpers

Thanks, for your continuing effort. I found that awhile back and tried both DS 1 and 0, but neither worked. The other jumpers on this drive appear to be relevant according to people that are using them for ataris and other old computers. I've tried a bunch of combinations and still haven't gotten it to work. It spins up, but asks for the diskette even when one is inserted. I'll keep trying and keep you posted. Meanwhile I have a few others I'm trying to get working too.

This site is in German, but the jumper config is obvious.

By the way Jae, I really dug your music. I have an EPS too and love it. I think its one of the best values in the sampler market.

These are brand new drives and they are $50 plus shipping. I have not tried them with HD floppies yet. The drives are capable of reading HD floppies but I have not tried them yet on the SP1200. I will give it a try get back to you.

Have you tried writing to the disk too? I had the same drive in the 1200 and that was my issue.
