Some SP12 help and feedback!Hello all, please bear with me as I'm two weeks with my SP12 Turbo.
Being an MPC user I was first shocked at how basic the SP is, damn 1985 eh!
Then I started sampling and it all made sense when you hear the sound coming back!
Now I would like some advice, it seems when I sample on user 1 I have problems.
It usually plays back a sample from the previous owner in a string format ie kick snare hihat and bass play in quick succession, then I have concluded that when It did let me sample on user 1 the sound became damaged ie clip at the end!
So I dont sample on user 1 at the moment so....
Is the memory on user 1 corrupt? can someone explain how the memory works?
I have four brand new ssm chips so hopefully I'm covered.
BTW I have what I think is a tip for getting rid of clips at the end of samples.
I just dialed in a very small loop at the end of a kick, snare etc and the reduced the decay right down..hey presto click gone.

First off you should use the "clear all" memory function and get rid of any old samples and sequences. If you still have problems with pops on the samples it could be that you need to set RT1 to 804 but unfortunately you have to have the impossible to find debug EPROM for the SP-12. Also maybe the memory is bad but probably not likely. It's not hard to find if you open it up it's all the USB stick size chips sitting to the lower mid right of the circuit board. I don't know which ones are for USER 1 though. You could just replace them all. Your SSM chips are filters and not memory btw. Also, the truncation system on the SP makes it hard to hit a zero cross so I find it best to not truncate too much. I sample to within a .1 sec more than what I need and if it's quiet on the end I don't touch it but sometimes it's impossible to get rid of a quiet click. As long as it's not a repetitive sound like a hi hat it will probably blend in ok. Good luck on this and enjoy your sp.

I did use the clear all memory, this did clear all but as say when I sample it randomly presents me with this old sample.
I have a great techie who will give it a service for me I was just collecting pointers from the likes of your good self before hand.

You can replace the stock sounds in the SP-12 also.
This might be something we need a sound clip for...
But generally speaking once the power is off everything i gone unless it's a Rom sound.
