sequencers

I've been looking at all the pc sequencers and damn its hard to choose one. Which sequencer do you homies use and why?

I own a pc and a multi input interface. I want to record my sp into the computer, add effects, and drop some sounds maybe from a synth or something. Help me out please.

Thanks

im pretty sure everybody over here seq with a sp.  hence the name of the forum.  if it aint a sp for me.. its a mpc.  anything less id rather not make a beat.  softwares for cats with no machine.

what are you using for a daw?

Agreed with Dface.  If you've got an SP, it would be hard to understand why you would want to use another sequencer .

If you are talking about DAWs which I think you are, it really depends on how much MIDI implementation you want.  I tend to use Pro Tools for recording and mixing and Logic for all things MIDI although I've only been using Logic lately cause I want to use different convertors to Digidesign gear.  On that point, you could try and pick up an old PT mix 882 or 888 system and use the AES/EBU to run your signal through a different convertor.

Best "computer" sequencer ever award goes to my trusted Atari ST.

ok DAW is what I meant . Drinks: I don't have a DAW = how's cubase?

I use Cubase 4, it's dope, but I don't need it really, all I do is track shit.

If I was starting new I'd either go Logic or Cubase/Nuendo or Reaper since it's super cheap and sounds pretty ill

I got a copy of sonar le free with a $70 edirol midi controller from guitar center. It works fine for tracking and loading up plug-ins is easy. Honestly though I almost never use it. I use an mv8000 as my daw.

Sorry mate, didn't mean to sound facetious.

I haven't used cubase since my Atari ST but it should be adequate.  Honestly, I think they all do the same thing but some are more intuitive than others.  Others come with plugin packs installed, etc etc. you get the idea.

If you plan to use it to sequence, I would advise something with good MIDI specs.  If its just to record and you plan on using DSP, just make sure it can record at least at 24bit or you'll quickly run out of headroom.

What's your budget?

thanks for all the replies! I've decided to go with Cubase I've used sx3 before so i'll stick with what i know. I thought Cubase/Protools/Logic were considered sequencers? w/e peace n thx again.
