s950 'note off'?? sustain sound w/ sp pad?is it possible to set the s950 to do note sustians from the sp12 pad the same way the 'note off' function works in an mpc? i want to be able to have the sample sound as long as the sp pad is pressed down.

nope you need a mpc for that. sp doesnt transmit duration for notes. just one shot.

Try this for a workaround:
I can't find anything about mute groups in the S950 manual, but the S950 has 8 individual monophonic outputs (only one sound can be heared through an individual output at a time just like the SP-12), so you could add a very short* silent sample and assign it to the same output as the one you want to play at various lengths. Both are one shot samples. Trigger the silent sample when you want to cut-off the normal sample.
*If your sampler has limited polyphony, then you don't want to use this silent voice too long.

..yeah that works fine.. another way to do cut offs on the same output is to just sp multi level the sample and trigger it with volume at 0 to stop itself when you want to.
