Question about changing the disk drive!yo whassup....
i am about to test a disk drive with the sp which maybe could read HD disks.
i am still running the original drive and i dont want to damage it.
my question is: do i have to open up the sp to change the disk drives, or is it enough to loose the 4 screws under the disk drive so i can pull it out without opening the sp?
might sound silly, but i am afraid i could damage the working disk drive, maybe the screws under the drive are important...
i have been searching through the topics....
any guide....?
thanks fam

Although I dont own a SP I would say you need to open it up. I guess you woun't be able to loosen the cables without open it.

Although I have not replaced my disk drive I would say open it up.
Its really easy to do and I'm pretty sure the disk drive is on top of the boards so its easy to access.

aight, so thats the 3 screws at the back and the 6 (?) screws at the bottom?
i really dont know if i should do this,
"if it aint broke, dont fix it".
i got this teac C929 with jumpers and i would really like to know if it would work

I dont know anything about drives but don't worry about opening up the SP. You have to be a complete dead shit to stuff that up.
I was hesitant to open up mine but it had to be done, its easy. Just make sure you have a place to store the screws and a towel or something down so the top does not scratch up against the table or whatever surface your working on. (the SP has a cable connecting the pads to the memory {or something} so when you open it, it kinda splits in half. That's why its good to place a towel down.
Good Luck,
But why are you replacing your disk drive? I thought mine was fucked, it would always give mw read/verify errors, then I found some DD disks and its been sweet.

i just want to try if this one can read HD disks or is able to work with the sp with dd disks.
call it paranoid, but i want to assure some spare parts for the future.
the day will come when the drive dies.
just want to be on the safe side.... but for now maybe i just leave it like dat - everythig is working fine.
i have read that the teac HF.....C929 with jumpers should work.
thanks for the tipps!

i just opened the sp and tested the drive!
the C929 drive from teac works!
works only with dd disks, but thats cool for me, as i have bought quite a few now.
if anybody needs help with the jumpers or settings for this drive, feel free to ask

I have problems with my old drive, It won't format properly, and i sometimes can't save sounds, only sequences. So I think I'll try to replace it, and then I would love the jumper settings and any other information on the drive you got.
Peace
