PLEASE HELP! SP12 cant store after switching offhi guys, i am new to this great forum
i have a big problem with my new received sp12 turbo:
everytime i switch it off and on the whole sounds are gone.
also there are weird, strange noises from every pad.
then when i press "delete all memory" the internal stored sounds are back and the machine works like it should.
i noticed also a huge distortion signal when i monitor the sample input. but when i play back the samples with the sp the sounds are normal
but as i said: after switching off all sounds gone, also the sequences.
i must also say my sp12 has a very hard "travel" to me cause the idiot of a seller packed it only in a carton w/o padding anything.
the 8th slider is also a little bit damaged, but it works.
i opend the sp to see whats inside and i noticed that the original battery was replaced from the seller. the battery was not on its place and dangled arround. the cables seems ok so i am not sure if this is the problem.
i disambled it and connected it again and voila: the sp stores (but only once )
after a few tests it doesnt store again.
and now i am helpless...
can u give me a tip where i should look or what could be the problem?
also has someone the schematic from the sp12.
thx in advance (and i hope u got my english, as u supposed its not my mother tongue )

You should probably start by replacing the battery. Check out this page: http://emulatorarchive.com/Archiv...view/SP12Repairs/sp12repairs.html
| Quote: | | Battery The Lithium battery in the SP-12 will last around 5 years. It is bright yellow and located at the rear of the main PCB. When it fails your songs and the RAM based samples will not be stored after power off. To replace it you need a Panasonic Lithium 2/3 A 3V battery with tags - part number BR-2/3AT-2SP. DigiKey in the USA stock them , the Part # is P201-ND |

ahh, ok....
i have changed the battery with a 3v lithium battery:
http://www.dream-shop.at/bild_3%2...m%20Knopfzelle%20CR-2032_551.html
and now sometimes its stores and sometimes dont...
there must be a bad contact, or a short circuit or whatever....
i think the battery is allready good soldered, it could be a problem from some ics (flashrom, ram etc....)
where should i start? which chips are for storing?
--> i dont want to desolder something, only want to test the ones they are plugged in...
thx for your help!

i get that too sometimes on my sp1200. i get like click sounds on pads that don't have any sampls assigned to them. i fix that by either 'deleting' the 'sound' or erasing whole memory. it's weird but there is a way around it. today i discovered that these pops are actual 'samples'.. i go into truncate mode and they're bout 5500 samples in length. sometimes the most i can sample at one time is 2.2 sec.. not full 2.5..weird too..but i think it might be because of that clickin takin some memory.
sorry if i jacked your post..
i think it is important that i pointed it out since u have an sp12 and i got the 1200.
peace

i think you have no battery inside the sp1200?
i would check the sp inside, perhaps some ics, chips.. dont seat properly
