noise in samples intermittently

Maybe somebody can help me I just picked up an sp 1200(reissue) and I am really enjoying it, but it has this erratic behaviour where noise sometimes occurs in  samples. The noise seems to only be present on the input stage of the unit, samples that where recorded prior with no noise play without noise while the newer samples have the noise. The noise is louder in the sample when my computer is on, and seems to be worse when the laundry equipment in the basement is on. But like I said it is not consistent.I adjusted the RT1 Trimmer to 804 and noise sometimes returns. I sent emulator archives a message regarding purchasing a copy of an SP 1200 service manual, still after 2 weeks no response. Any Ideas?

It sounds like you need some type of power conditioner to plug the mains in from the SP - Samson Furman and quite a few other companies make them. Make sure you get one with EMI and RFI filtering. This should isolate the SP from the mains interference from your computer and the washing machine etc.

...

are you sampling fromt he computer? computers are always a huge source of studio noise..id check that out first. also running better fully-shielded cables will make a difference, esp if you are in a noisy spot. i was getting all kinds of cross talk and radio signals picked up from my computer...try plugging a portable cd player or ipod direct into the sp and see if its still getting that noise.

I sample basically from everything, but primarily from vinyl. The noise is still present when sampling from vinyl with the computer off. I was thinking it might be a capacitor issue. I will try a power conditioner in the meantime. Im really trying to locate a copy of the service manual as well.
