hey people! just got myself sp 1200 and im quite eager to get started. im having some problems with this so i thought i would ask here. do i need a special kind of disc for the sp 1200 (and if so where should i order these) or do i use standard floppy discs? do i need a startup disc of some sort or is the os always loaded in the sp?

these questions might seem stupid, but im a total newbie so id be grateful if you helped me out on this one. doesnt feel good having the machine standing there gathering dust..

if someone would like to help me out on this one, maybe send me a startup disc or whatever or just give me the info i need id be happy to give a favor in return of some sort. like some money or a mixtape for example Very Happy

yeah! still got one question though. i didnt really get this all clear.

do i need an os discette to get the machine running or can i use any discette that has been formatted in the sp 1200.

and as im always getting the message: disc read error when i insert a regular floppy; is the floppy drive out of order? hope not..

do you have an os disk? any disk you format after will have the os on it

you need double density disks for the sp and to start it up you need a disk thats got the os on it. once you have it loaded up you can copy the os on to another disk but you need one with it to start it up.

yeah. thats my problem. i DONT have an os disc. i thouht it would be easier to get a hold on, but it seems theres not to many sp users in norway.

just need to get one thing straight:

when you save samples on a dd disc you also save the os right?

so: do i first need to have a disc with only the os to boot, or can i boot from any disc that has samples saved from the sp 1200?

if you have a disk from the sp the os is saved on there. so youre correct any sp disk wiht sounds saved on it should work. you can erase teh sound memory hwne you boot, then make a new os disk with no sounds.
