MPC 60 Output mod

anyone know about this? me and D opened up my MPC and did some reading, and it looks like my resistors have been modded, I have no idea how it works or what to do tho, and im alittle curious just so I know whats been done to my MPC. I wanna know if theres also more then one way to mod the level of your outputs? Mine are loud as hell, louder then any piece of equipment I have.

Any info would be cool, thnx
DFACE DXA

there louder than his s3000 on max settings. and i know the 950 is louder than the 60 and the 3k is too. im pretty sure a s3k should be louder than a 60. im goin to take high res pics on friday and well post. well also put a list of the numbers r5x where they are located.
Deta!L

yo, can someone post up some info about this? your opinion etc? I know the cats who have had it done remained real quiet about it afterwards, I almost shipped mine out today to have it done along with the headphone mod. Holler at me Drumatic!
DFACE DXA

the mod is a replacement of a couple lil resistors. mike dean dropped the knowledge on mpc forums. it makes your mpc louder. to do it good you have to have the right amount of boost. its compromises your frequency response.
Deta!L

what's that mean specifically? the compromises frequency responses? I assume Forat would be the place to go for it no?

I really just want to hear from people who paid to have it done and are satisfied with it, would do it again.

Or people who have used both and prefer one over the other and for which reasons you know?
DFACE DXA

youll get your mpc back soon. forat def is the place to go. you should post some pics when youre done. ill get some from xe. by that freq shit i mean it changes your sound. even if its really slight. you can listen for yourself then post about it. you can load up some of yuor old shit and record it back into your recording medium. im glad my 3k is loud and i dont have to silly around.
Deta!L

oh, nah I didn't send it off...I have a 3K LE too and was just driving around with my 60 int he passenger side haha, shit was silly...

I can't really decide if I should send it off, but decided not to today, still thinking about it though

it changes it for the good or bad? in your opinion?
DFACE DXA

i dont own a modded 60 to give you a good enough opinion. id personally not wanna fool around wiht my gear.
HavDeaf!

i havent really messed with a non modded 60 so I really dont know honestly.

all i know is i have no problem at all with my outputs not being loud enough, they're extremely loud and i get alot of bump outta it, i love it. i wish someone i knew had a non modded 60 so i could load up my shit in it and see how much different it sounds. I think my shit sounds fine, its loud and clear. I'd still like to compare tho, maybe we can do a test or some shit? I dunno
Deta!L

yeah I dunno either, I got a little akai mg614 mixer so the loudness isn't an issue really, but I thought it might bring out the grit, or the subtle 12bitness out moreso than a non modded

but that's a lot of dough, to not konw for sure
DFACE DXA

use the money and get a better recording medium.
Deta!L

I do man, that's like my mixer and most times I'll record to the cassette tape in it, unless it's a beat for someone who doesn't want it that way. i've got a RME FIreface which is ill and I'm saving up for this Toft mixer coming out, it looks too ill
elmacaco

Was this 60 modded by forat?

if so, Hi res pics of the resistors so we can read the color codes and see the locations please!

Very Happy
DFACE DXA

he copped it used. i was trynah take a pic of the ressitors xe's camera was a lil budget. if you have the shematics frot he 60 and the resistor numbers its not needed. i can post the resistor strengths n location on the board.
HavDeaf!

next time DFACE comes thru my crib we'll take pics for all you cats.
Deta!L

I sent my 60 off to Forat for the output boost and the headphone mod (since it's an MK1), won't be able to get it until the end of the summer though but I'll come through with pics when I get it back...should be a beautiful thing
goldenmean

ive never messed with the 60 myself, but id say you need to look at the output section of the schematics. whatever the resistors on the output channel are rated at, get some lower ones and plug them in until you are happy with the volume increase. i guess you could also find out what they are rated just by putting a meter on them.

is it really not loud enough? if its for recordings sake, you might want to run it through some good tube preamps before its recorded....
