Loud Hum on the 1200Hey guys I need some help with this hum on my 1200. The noise of the transformer is leaking into the mix output (and maybe the input) loud enough to make the sp unusable at the moment. It's loudest when the vol knob is all the way down and when I turn the mix vol to max it almost goes away. Just guessing, I replaced the 4 electrolytic caps on the power supply but it didn't help. I'm thinking it's one of the regulators but I wanted some of you guys' thoughts before I replace anything else. Thanks in advance, peace.
-EDIT-
Nevermind, this sucker is at the shop. i gotta get back to the beats...

I have the same problem - my SP (all grey model 7030 - with the old PSU) is currently in repair but the tech report stated that the transformer needed replacing (changing the caps would not help).
Not sure how different the PSU's are between the all grey model and the re-issue, but once I get the SP back, I can upload pics of the work the tech has done if it helps.
Cheers,
WW

I have the all grey model as well and it's dam near as loud as my refrigerator. I suspected I would have to replace the transformer but I don't know much about them so I opted for a pro to do the repair. I'll also try to post a part number on it when I get mine back. Another thought is that I might get it back with the new power supply. I would guess that any old SP can be converted it just takes some new wiring. The newer power supply can be bought from EPR for $70. Anyway, it should be interesting and thanks for the insight WW.

No problem RM. The newer models have a switch mode PSU (as sold by EPR Electronics). Unfortunately, to use this switch mode PSU, you needed an additional piece of kit (a sideboard of some sort or another) which no longer is stocked. If you have been informed that the PSU is to be switched to a switch mode, you may want to double check that they have the sideboard (although I would suspect they would know about this requirement)!
Cheers,
