got the SP...good and badgot the SP1200 today, this thing is big as fuck!
came with some discs, original manual and cord
the box was all fucked up, packing was terrible...took the SP out and the faceplate to the disk drive got knocked off so I was freaking out a little bit, but it was in the bottom of the box.
the thing that's fucked up, is only cosmetic, but dude didn't metion it. on the back, one of the screws up top (out of the three) is stripped and missing, so it's being held on by two screws...not a big deal but it's something that's not fixable ever...it's not like I can get a new case for it should another screw get stripped.
I'm a little OCD so it's bothering me
it does have a new backlight, which I was happily suprised about, dude didn't mention that either. the main volume knob has static when you turn it, might get some calilube for it, some buttons take a few more presses than they should...but it looks like it is in good shape overall
I got it for a $1,000...would yall be pissed about that corner or just say fuck it? I might see if dude will give me some money back because of it..might just get busy learning it so I can make a beat though...
I guess I should check out the filters too, make sure they're there

did you get the black reissue sp 1200?
i got my sp 1200 black reissue , and had to get 2 of the pads fixed because they where sticking, the sliders oiled, and all the buttons cleaned because they where double triggering. I also had to get a new floppy drive. but not this floppy drive can read hd and dd 3.5 disks for the sp. it costed $200 for the 2 pads to be fixed, all the other pads looked at, sliders oiled, buttons cleaned. the new floppy drive cost $170. It was expensive but this thing works perfectly. I'm going to get an Anvil Case for it soon.
if I where you i would call up forat and ask him how much it would cost to fix that one screw in the back perhaps he knows how to do it w/o getting a new faceplate...? I also guarantee forat can fix the static on the main volume knob. If you have any other problems with sticking pads or which are difficult to triggersliders that aren't oiled properly , or buttons double triggering or buttons which don't trigger easily he can fix that. check forat.com
It is good that you got a bright new screen for the sp tho!

yeah, I know forat is good peoples, the other things don't really bother me that much yet, so I'll wait and see
just heated that dude didn't tell me about the screw, it's like the plastic part in the back is broke and everything so I don't know what he could do? I might get a thin piece of metal and put it on the back somehow...I dunnno

..i dunno man $1000 for an sp1200 is pretty good if you ask me. just drill a new screwhole and put in a new bolt if you think the back is loose.
static on the volume knob? this is like the most common problem with all audio equipment. spraying air or whatever the fuck in there isnt going to fix a damn thing. volume potentiometers have a strip of carbon inside of them that goes from a small swipe to a larger swipe which increases the connection as it goes. as this carbon wears over time, the connection becomes inconsistent. any guitar repair shop should be able to fix this for you. its not some high tech procedure that youd need to send to forat to do.

$1000 isn't bad, but $900 is better

Glad to hear its a black reissue!! definitely keep it only 5,000 black and grey reissues were manufactured.
dfacedxa i hear what ure saying in terms of the 60 having a tighter sequencer then the sp but i traded my mpc 60 for my sp 1200 black reissue. I'm glad i did it but now i'm worried about how my PC will eventually becoming innaccurate timing wise when i have a ton of vst's and fx running. Thats why I plan to get an old atari ste , or falcon http://www.keychange.co.uk/ <--- from that place. the one that sits in the rack. i'm going to have the atari running notator with all the expansions giving it 6 outs and 3 ins.

sp is very limited midi wise, if it had more midi implementation mpc would be less desired.

I believe it, haven't messed with SP and midi yet..might hook it up to the 950 soon
editing on the SP with the sliders is dope

Congrats on the purchace D but ebayin the 60? Blasphemy! Your machine is maxed out and minty fresh.
That 3k OS is crazy though...
On the 3 can you monitor the sample input at all times like on the 60?

only thing id trade my 60 for is a 3k
i dont think id trade my 60 for a 1200, maybe its cause i got a 12 tho
you can hook up an 12 to multiple samplers, its just kinda a bitch. JaeOne taught me how to do it. I just recently made a sp12, s950, s3000 beat, i was happy that i could use the two samplers with the sp

no! that and the screen are what bothers me about the 3K..I hate those white letters...but that OS sounds crazy and it can load my 60 discs...I probably won't though, might just wait and buy a 3K and store the 60

Hmm I preview all kinds of shit through the monitor. I guess that would bother me too. For a while at least. The white letters arn't so bad to me. I got a 60II now so I'm used to it but those green backlights like the one on yours got nice contrast to them.
