Fader #1 not responding

Can this be resolved by cleaning it or should I just replace it? I had it worked on years ago when it first stopped working. I asked the dude in the repair shop to replace it but obviously he didn't coz now I'm having the same problem.

I'm thinking about ordering the replacement fader & repairing it myself. Has anyone replace a fader on their SP before? If so, was it difficult?

Any advice would help.

It is fairly straight forward. Remove the top cover, disconnect cables going to motherboard, and fader knob. De-solder wires going to fader, then remove 2 screws holding fader in place (watch for washers, they will fall off when screws are removed). Replace fader and solder wires to new fader then reassemble.
