Computer, Driver, and Sound Card for sp 1200 and sp 404?My last computer was an AMD Processor 120GB Hard drive with 1GB RAM I was running Windows XP Service Pack 2. I was using M-Audio Delta 44 as my sound card and Cakewalk for software mostly. I had my SP 404 midi'd up to my SP 1200 that was doing all the sequences for the beat patterns etc. I'm thinking about getting a new computer but I really don't know if I should continue using this sound card with and software with my new computer? I'm also considering getting a mac but I'm not sure if I should get a new mac book or any mac even an old G3 would work? I'm just going to be using it for music and keeping the old pc for downloading stuff and just surfing the internet. I'm just trying to get an idea of what would work well with the SP 1200 midi'd up to the SP 404 then going to the computer just to record beats? Any advice would help thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what your needs are but I'm going to upgrade my sound card soon as well and 8 ins are a must on my list. The digi002s are so cheap now I'm likely to jump on that. Just my .02.

Basically, I have a $1500 dollar budget. I want to buy a new PC or Mac not sure yet what to get. If I get the Mac Book that would be very convenient with all the drivers and stuff already installed on the mac and probably run ableton live or Pro Tools on it. Only the Mac is not as flexible as a PC. or buy some PC running Windows Vista Ultimate and run ableton live or Pro Tool on this. Either way I still need to get some USB digi interface. I'm not sure what I can get on this budget.
All I want to use this PC or Mac for would be just to record my beats and have them on CD or stored on Disc some where. When I ask people at guitar center they all say buy a Mac. I never had a Mac so I would rather get some G5 or older Mac that will cost less money but will still work for what I want to do with it.
Also I'm not sure what kind of USB interface will work well with my SP 1200 and SP 404? Will the MBox work well with this set up or should I get something more current.
