the right way is the hard wayI've heard varied opinions on Deoxit. I've used the FaderLube stuff (5% lube), and it seems to free up the sliders, but then it feels kinda rough in the travel.
if I want to make the sliders work smooth and feel almost new, I usually slog through the process of taking them apart, cleaning them out fully with qtips and isopropyl alcohol, then relubing them at friction points with silicone grease. this guy has some pics of the process for old synths (and he answered my questions some years back, not sure if he's still there, though):

I did this with my ugly, near-dead sp12, and now the sliders feel great. however, it took 2hrs, was tedious and not super easy, and a mess. and to take them apart, you have to unbend multiple tabs on the body. they're strong enough, but I'll bet you can't bend them more than about 5 times before they'd break
anyway, that's my 2c...
