Buzz sound from SP 1200 to Mixer?

I'm getting an annoying Buzz sound coming from my SP 1200 or the 1/4" guitar cable I'm using from my SP 1200 mix out to my channel in on my mixer.. What are some good cables to use that will not create a buzz or is this some legacy issue with the SP 1200?

i have no noise at all comin from my sp to my interface.. it could be a number of things. sp isnt supposed to be noisy.

I think it might be the guitar cable.. I have my SP 404 going into the same mixer with a different type of cable and it does not produce a buzz noise. I'm going to try some other cable for the sp 1200.

If it does turn out to be the SP, try each individual out to identify the problem channel as the Mix out on the SP is the sum of all its 8 outs. Or else, Try a different channel on mixer. The easiest way to tell though would be to use the cable you are using on the 404.

I tried the same cable going from my SP 404 line out or Phones to my Vestax line in no buzz. When I try my SP 1200 Mix out to Vestax line in or Phones I get a buzz even when nothing is being played. I tried other cables and I also tried a different mixer same deal..

In addition to this I tried other channels from my SP 1200 outs going to my Vestax and still got the buzz sound. I think it's something with the SP 1200 and the way it needs to be hooked up to the mixer to avoid this buzz.

I have to agree with Dface. If all your individual outs are buzzing, time for the repair shop. How much did you pay for it and can you ask the seller for a partial refund?? Might help you pay for the repairs. Or else, it'll only be good to trigger MIDI. You in Cali? Go for Bruce Forat.

I've had this SP 1200 since 1991. I never used it to do midi or smpte. I just went directly to mackie mixer then 8 track tascam back in the day. Which I do not own an 8 track or mackie mixer anymore. I'm using a vestax Pmc-06 Pro A. I lived in Manhattan (around upper west and also Inwood) for 10 years then moved back to cali two years ago.. While I was in Nyc my SP 1200 was in a studio.. I never had to touch a computer or any engineering type shit.. strictly banged on beats and dj'd. I'm going to take it to a friends studio tues. I really don't think something is wrong with it since I just had a full system and functional test at another shop in L.A. around 5 months back.

Seen seen.

But something is wrong with it if its got noise on the outs.

Cut the mixer and cable out of the equation by sticking headphones straight into it. If its still noisy, its going to have to be an internal issue. Could be from moving it around or, as DFace said, just about anything.

Point is: you're not an engineer, as you made clear, so get it to someone who is. Maybe that company in LA you used 5 months ago.

Hmm...there is probably no issue with your SP, I'd say it's a grounding problem.
Usually you don't go back to your DJ mixer from the SP but instead into a regular mixer like Mackie, Tascam, whatever..

I'd suggest you try out to go from your SP Mix Out to another mixer or directly into an audio-interface. Maybe also try to check your grounding on the Vestax, could be that the Vestax just isn't grounded correctly.

Can't be the mixer if it works with his 404.

Just try sticking your headphones in the MIX OUT. If its noisy, its internal.

The SP 1200 is grounded to the power surge now and I'm still getting a buzz. The SP 1200 is hooked up with a snake cable going to a Boss BX-800 8 channel stereo mixer.
I tried hooking up the SP 404 to the boss and everything was fine.

I do not get any buzz when I listen to the SP 1200 mix out with headphones. I'm still thinking there's some power cable / grounding issue. I still haven't narrowed down where the buzz is coming from exactly.. I'm going to try a few more options and see what happens..

It's a Hosa High Def Snake. I also have a cheap under 10 dollar guitar cord and they are both throwing the buzz sound at me.
