backlight?

so, my next problem after fixing the battery problem....

the sp has no backlight...

is this the same problem as on akai samplers... dead el-foil?
how hard is it to replace it?

i had this problem also on my mpc60 and it was easy to fix it.

next problem i noticed are some bad buttons... i read the sticky and tomorrow i will clean them...

and now the good thing:

i have the filter mods for ch. 1-7... these are switcher to set the filters on these channels on/off......
how cool is this.....  Very Happy

had the sp from epay and the seller has concealed some problems but also that the sp has filtermods....

so now i am happier  Razz

dnuts, you got to get us pics of the filter mod I'd like to do that to my SP as well.
dnuts

here it is:

i never seen that mod with LED's  they light up when the filter is bypassed?
dnuts

no, these are not leds.

dont know which funktion has these holes??? i thought these are original?

there are screws which u can spin, but dont have figured out for what (will try it next days....) perhaps for cutoff? hope it but i dont think so....

So, you can use the filter-less outputs or the regular ones and the use the switch to turn the filter on and off?
dnuts

correctamente  Wink
HavDeaf!

i need those damn switches

i dont even know what its like to have filters
dnuts

btw:

does anyone know the filter settings of the various channels?
cant find anything about it.
must also say that i didnt know that the sp has fixed filter settings...
i thought there is a variable cutoff setting like on the emax...

which filters do u use for snare and bd?

i found that 1+2 sound a little bit strange... like a high resonance or fast lfo setting...

Hi dnuts.
here are the filtercurves of the outputs
these curves are made with a white noise signal generated in Adobe Audition. I mailed it to a guy called hovaone cause he has the sp1200 and was so nice to run the white noise thru it.

light blue: original white noise
green: SP1200 Outs 1/2
red:     SP1200 Outs 3/4
dark blue: SP1200 Outs 5/6
yellow :  SP1200 Outs 7/8

To get the filtercurve of the outputs 1/2 I cut the first 250 miliseconds of the sample cause the filter is a dynamic filter (just like an Attack/Decay curve). It starts with the filter "open" but after ca 200 miliseconds the filter cut the frequencies as you can see in the green line. This filter works best with kickdrums or bass.

good work peterpiper!

do you know a way to change the cutoff frequency?
peterpiper0815

In theory there must be a way cause the filter chips are SSM2044  and the datasheet shows that there are pins for filter control and Q control (resonance)

http://www.analog-synth.de/synths/mod2/ssmlowpass/ssm2044.pdf

It should not be a big problem to get this work if you have experience with electronics and know what you are doing.

But instead of doin this direct to the SP I would recommend to build a filterbox with some SSM2044.

You can ask the freak(fonik) on this site (kannst auch auf deutsch mit dem reden ;o)) if he still sell PCBs.

Here is another interesting thread how some things work with the desing of the filtermodule.

search for ssm2044 in this forum and you will get happy Smile

peace
