Just wondering if anyone with experience can school a new guy on this Alchemy/os9/sp1200 business.

I have tried infinite combos of adding my own 'Sp1200' instrument in alchemy and just using 'SDS' (which seems like a likely way of transferring) but i keep recieving an error 'SDS Not Responding Check Connections'.

I get blinking lights on my usb midi interface. OMS is installed and working.

Alchemy even goes so far as to list the status of a transfer with a completion bar but it always times out. The SP1200 says 'recieving midi data' then says recieve done but again there is nothing there and the computer reads 'SDS Not Responding'.

SP1200 has a blank sound loaded in A1 ready to record over with the Midi transmission (as per the guide in the sp1200 manual).

Any help would be hugely appreciated, i would mail someone some records or some kind of bribe if they could steer me in the right direction.

i find the same prob at the beginning... then suddenly works
if u can trigger midi from alchemy and sp1200 work should be ok... of course connect both midi in - out from sp1200 to midi interface in mac os 9....

i try to remember what was that change all... i think to remember i make first a dump from the sp1200 to alchemy then , as magic, all starts to work

are you using the 'SDS' option to transmit to and from the sp1200? or a created 'sp1200' instrument?

ok run alchemy

go to preferences and check midi user as OMS

then go to network, intrument, new
as sampler set of course sp1200

leave the other paramater as default, something like this

then go to get sample (of course a little before turn on ths sp1200 with some sound inside) and u'll be able to trigger sample just browsing the mouse click on the virtual keyboard u'll see.... and here try to get a sample dump from sp1200 to alchemy to see if it works
after this i remember i can then send sample dump to sp1200.....

still recieve the "SP1200 is not responding. Check Connections" Error window.
I can trigger my sounds on the SP on the small keyboard dialogue window (in Alchemy) & when i go to 'get sound' the SP1200 engages in its 'Sending Midi data' even after i am prompted with the "SP1200 is not responding dialogue".

As far as i can tell the computer is communicating properly.(Esp considering that when i send data or recieve it the SP1200 screen changes to transfer mode).

OMS 'test' mode recieves midi data and transmits midi data to and from the computer and the SP.

any ideas?

well mate i enter the same prob when i try... then suddenly starts to work... i know it sounds strange but it was in that way...

i read from old mail when i was in the same mistake of you, do in this way:

put the emu sp1200 in play with a sequence, then start the dump when is playing....
let me know.... i find an old email with this strange trick...
