"8 seconds sampling time at the lowest sampling rate available" that would be 4khz? that works out to one second at 32khz. n a 2.8in disk drive?
Lotuz

That's not much time to work with. I guess 2 sec at 16 kHz could be useful to sample some drums.

An optional disk drive that features the quick disk (QD) 2.8 inch format is needed for permanent storage of samples. Only one sample is stored to each side of the disk.

I'd probably resample it with another sampler if it sounds more interesting than any other 12 bit sampler. That would give you an easier way to save your sounds and you wouldn't run out of memory so fast.

Quick disk is a major turn off. Where the hell can you buy those things?

Yeah it has jack all time. The cool thing about it is the 6 voice polyphony, analog low pass filter with LFO, MIDI, and its akais first sampler. I was gonna get one of ebay but the seller didn't answer any of my questions. There is one youtube video if you search it. Could be real nice for tuned percussion.

I got one of these, though I've not got around to testing it fully.

It only holds one sample at a time.

I salvaged mine from my friends front yard under the impression that the loop points are realtime adjustable (i.e. while the unit is actually playing the loop) - though mine's so beat to hell, I haven't quite been able to figure out how to operate it.

The 612 also has the ability to output 6 voices to the akai VX90 synth (which I also have - though no cable to connect 'em) - this might be a fun exercise...

will have to power it up again 'n see.
