Advanced S950 Questions

What's the most efficient way to chop loops on the S950 in this manner: say you have a break and you want to make slices of it accross your keys or pads, whats the quickest way to chop it so that if you play through them 1by1 it will go through the break in steps?

How do you trigger samples with different velocities on the S950 from the EMU SP1200 in the manner similar to the setup multi level function on the EMU?

Thank you very much to those who respond I know both of these operations may not even be possible but for those who wonder in the future they will see some experienced advice.

Chopping loops :

1. Make sure you have premade a program with all keygroups corresponding your triggers pads/keys
2. Sample your loop
3. Define start- & endpoints of the first chop
4. Copy the sample
5. Truncate your first chop (using the corresponding page in "Edit Sample" mode)
6. Redo steps 3 to 5 until you have all your chops
7. Assign each chop to a keygroup
8. Have fun

Triggering with velocity :

To my knowledge this is not possible due to the SP's limited MIDI implementation, but there is a "work-around" :

Let's say you use two pads for triggering a loud and a quiter version of the same sample. You have to assign the same sample for the two corresponding keygroups and for one, set the volume to -XX (XX can be any value you like) in "Edit PRGRM".

Hey what up?Forum is very interesting and full of talent, only complain is i dont see too many users around..anyway...im a newbie to the 950 and i was wondering if i could do a n empty program where every sp pad is assigned to a keygroup so that i wouldnt have to do the whole process everytime, so i could load it and sample what i need and insert it in the program, is it a possible thing?

yeah this is what alot of us do. just make a kg for each pad and set the parameters accordingly.
sorry for the lack of users, not many sp heads, and its better to sit in front of your machine than a computer on a forum anyway. weve covered alot of shit so theres not as much to talk about. if you got any other questions post up.
