Never had them repair anything but done some online buying from them.
One time I had to remind them about my order after a month because they had forgotten to send it.
They don't have a brilliant rep.but they may be the only option in the UK.

Blu-one: Try James Walker at the Synth Repair Service (its in Stoke)(http://www.synthrepairservices.com). I am awaiting from him a quote on work to be done to my SP1200. However, from telephone conversations I have had with him he seems very knowledgeable about the SP1200 and honest - where he lacked specific knowledge/parts to carry out repairs, he told me from the outset, and was willing to go and research into things he had not repaired on the SP1200 - and that's before he has even quoted me!
Therefore, if I have a choice between Cimple and Synth Repair Service, even though I am based in London, I would prefer the journey to Stoke to personally hand deliver the SP1200 to the Synth Repair Service. However, you should give both Cimple and the Synth Repair Service a call, tell them what you want doing and see who you feel more comfortable to give your unit to.

Well you can be waiting a very, very long time. james has a six month waiting list.

Well, FWIW, I'm in London too and I have just bit the bullet and booked my SP into CS. Reason being its so close and the hiss is driving me mad now. So I'll let you know how long it takes, how much it costs, and what the root of all evil is (the hiss I mean).

Well I brought it in (check the Fuckin Hiss thread). Unfortunately its going to take a few weeks as they have a backlog. I'm also getting a tracking device (a chip really) installed in case it gets stolen (£17). I can have most of my studio broken into and gear stolen cause I'm insured so I'll get "old for new" with regards to the policy but you just can't replace the SP!
In the meantime, I'm sat here twiddling my thumbs without my sampling percussion machine
Just hope those guys aren't going to charge me a fortune! _________________ www.myspace.com/djdrinks |

Hey Drinks,
Have you any feedback on CimpleSolutions: Did they do a good job? Were they reasonably priced or a rip-off?
Cheers! |

Thanks for all the info guys -ended up taking it to James Walker@synth repair
would recommend him to anyone - the repair ended up being more complicated than we thought at first - which was a bit shit for me, but he stuck it though and only charged for the original repair/parts which was pretty reasonable anyway.
I'm still waiting on a formatted PAL chip to hopefully get it working perfectly, but he needs a healthy SP1200 to copy the programme from - anyone taking theirs in could be doing us both a favour lol. In the meantime though its heaps better
the only downside for a southerner like myself is getting to Stoke from London - its a long daytrip. Reckon its a no brainer for SP heads in the north though
