SP 1200 Final Edition Serial?
Hi there,
Does anybody know the Serial Numbers of the Final Edition of the SP 1200?
They say it's 7031? But I got an offer with the plaque on the front and the Number is 7030? The plaque has a little dent, so maybe it's fake...
What do you think?
Best

Mine's not part of the last 125 but it is the final re-issue model type. That is 7030. Never heard of 7031. Differentiated by the power switch (a round push in button - the other re-issue is has a square switch) - not aware that these are any different though.
I very much doubt someone would forge something like that. Functionally, they are all identical although each is unique now in terms of its running life. _________________ www.myspace.com/djdrinks

I just wonder, because if I pay extra for a 1998 Final Version, I expect a longer lifetime.
On the page of the emulator archive, right side under models & prices, they write that the final reissue has the number 7031
Before I suspect someone of something I want to be sure.

most final version should be # 7031 -> no ssm filter chips
BUT
i have seen a final version with # 7030, so there could be some final version models with ssm filter chips (or it was a fake serial number sticker which i doubt).

i have a model 7030 (first reissue with ssm chip) with round power button
on the sticker is written:

reissues
^
today i discovered that in the inside of my sp there is another sticker, that says the same thing of the other (on the back panel)
for Theorist: you can check if your machine got a inside sticker to be sure, if you have some doubt... but, in theory, the final reissue could be cheaper because it lacks the original ssm2044 analog filters chip (right?)

i dont have a serial or model number sticker inside my black sp1200
Just one on the bottom- 7030 etc but its a larger different sticker than the ones pictured previously.
also a round peg button and ssm 2044 chip
are the sp1200's without ssm2044 chips filterless? whats the diff?
No, they aren't filterless, the 7031 series got OP-AMPS instead of the SSM2044 chips.
Again :
Orginal series 7030 (the grey ones) : SSM2044
First re-issue 7030 (the first black ones, round or square power button) : SSM2044
Second re-issue 7031 (the second black ones, round power button) : OP-AMPS

ssm2044 is a voltage controlled (VCF) analog filter chip
op-amps is not analog but it emulate the sound of ssm2044
rigth? please, correct me if i'm wrong _________________ http://writers-connection.noblogs.org/

Op-amps ARE analog. It just they use their high input impedence to roll off the frequencies whereas the VCF can have variable cutoff and Q determined by the voltage. Op-amps were presumably used to replace the SSMs because the filter designs on the SP are set and static so there's no need for adjustment. that and SSMs were taken off the production line. _________________ www.myspace.com/djdrinks
