| Pitch Keys with Midi Keyboard??? |

Ive seen several posts here and saw in the manual as well that this is possible but its not working for me...
I have a 808 sound that I can multipitch and it sounds great... Now I want my midi keyboard to trigger all these sounds... I've gone to setup, picked 22, went to pitch keys and pushed yes, then held down the 808 note on the keyboard and pushed yes again... No dice! It says they will be spread across up to B3 on the keyboard but I don't hear it...
Anybody ever successful at this? Also I have a MPC 2000 I wanna do this with as well, is that possible too???
