| MPC vs s950 |

Im thinking about gettin an mpc for its better midi functions, and use its sequencer instead of the sp's. But will it cover up all the functions my s950 have? Like looping, tone programs and such. I was thinking about gettin the mpc3000, but I really dont know all the differences between 2000xl, 3000 and 4000. Just that 3000 can sample at a 16bit rate for example. I dont have any mpc experience at all. Gimme tips!

mpc forums got a gang a shit on comparing mpcs. id reccomend a 60 or a 3000 but any of em can get the job done.

Aight but if I would get a 3000, will I still have any use with the 950? Or does the 950 have any features that makes it uniqe compared to the 3000?
And what about the 4000? I havent found any info about that one on this forum?

You might look into the Roland MV series. Personally I felt like it shit all over MPCs. |

3000 has no timestretch. the s950 does. theres a bunch of other shit the 3000 cant do that the 950 does.

aight! does the 3000 got the slice function like the 2000xl? Does the 2000xl have more than one midi out like the 3000?

I have the 3000, super fat warm sound, but I think you should get the 2000XL because it's way faster on trimming chopping, and gives you more storage options. Plus you can get the XL pretty cheap. Most 3000's have burned out light foil in the display, whining inverter, problems with buttons and other stuff, so you may have to pay extra for maintaining it's condition in the nearest future, something you probably won't with the XL.
Hey, I'm even thinking of selling my 3000 myself and go back to the XL, because it's faster to work with. But the XL does NOT have the same timing and phatt warm tone in the sound. By the way, the 3000 can't loop a sound like you're used to with the 950, but the XL can, and that's good for bass-samples and stuff.
The 950 has a specific sound with variable sampling res. so you'll get any sound you want if you think you'll like working on three machines at once. I'm a one-machine-at-the-time dude, so I make the beat either on just the 3000 or solely on the 1200. I think the 950 was a bit slow to work with, so I don't want to mess with it.
Don't get MPC1000, 500, 2500 unless you get em really cheap, because cheap is what they are, feel like, and sound like.

thx deck daddy, that answered many of my questions! good thing is that my friend just called me and told that he just buyed the 3000 today, so now I have the opportunity to try it out myself
But still, if I want too use all three at once, isn't it kinda tricky to use the XL's sequencer because theres only one midi out?

No, you use different MIDI channels and put all your stuff in a chain, I think you use the THRU port or something. No problem at all to do this. |

deck is on point. i have to admit, although the sound isnt as punchy or heavy as the 60/3000 or sp12, the mpc 2000xl is still a dope machine. i went back to using it recently for some live work and its so quick to work on that i still really like it even though i use a 60/sp/950 too. the trick with the 2kxl is to put in some heavy work processing, thickening, eq'ing, etc yr sounds before they end up in the machine.
