Why do MPC60's sell for much less than SP1200's? I've been seeing some 60mkII's going for around $750 here in UK/Europe.
In fact, I see SP's trading hands for more money than MPC3k's and those are completely souped up.
So what gives? _________________ www.myspace.com/djdrinks |

supply n demand. less sp's and more people want them. new mpcs also mess up the market value of older ones. mpcs have less of a specific sound. many reasons have lead to the decline. _________________

yo i had to do it...had to get a 60i. the ii was way to ugly for my taste. i know cats like dface going to be like damn bro, you sholda got the 3000. but i wanted 12bit. i made shure to cop one with SCSI and the 3.10 os upgrade. does anyone have both of these units? 3000/60i with 3.10? what is the major differences? i know that the os is markedetd as being mpc3000 os. _________________ loopwhole.net |

Good choice man..I prefer the classic beast over the II as well. The bigger screen is probably what I dig most. Anyway..check the links below from the creator (his website anyway)..you should find most of the information there. From my experience..most of the 60 limitations are more based on the machine hardware..not so much the software. For example, no filters, no direct stereo sampling and considerably less sampling memory.

Yeah, I started out with a 60 MKII, but now have a MPC 3000 and a MKi running 3.10.
The main differences is the sound on the 60 sounds warmer than the MPC3000, the swing is better and it's not stereo and has far less sample time.
I too preferred the build quality of the MKi over MKii even though I miss the headphone jack.
