People here already know the Emax and SP don't sound exactly the same. People at the MPC forums on the other hand...

New here/1st post..blah blah blah..Pickin up the convo from GS...the sound difference is stark. Seems like the Emax retains a lot more frequency range..but is not quite as knockin' as the SP. As an Emax user, I'm a little surprised. At the same relative sample rate it's def. not the same. Ay D...how did you normalize the sound files to be the same overall volume? And let me know about the test files when available...much appreciated. |

i just gained the files til the peaks hit similar points and tried to make them as even as possible
i felt the same way that the emax has a more clear picture but the sp hits harder. also the way the machines alias is completley difference due to the alias filtering in the emax.
also so cats know i did that test with a emax hd rack and a sp12. the 12 has a higher sample rate than the 1200. _________________

sp definatly gives that BOOM-BAP sound hiphop producers are using... i think the emax gives a warmer sound though... |

really interesting... it seems that the sp12 sound harder when the sample is pitched/detuned. but also the emax sound is real good. i don't undeerstand properly what the antialias is supposed to do... it made the sound clearer? sorry for my ignorance and for my bad english _________________ http://writers-connection.noblogs.org/ |

it takes out the alias noise created from pitching the sample. this makes the sampler more flexible for doing like a multisample program kinda thing. _________________
