So how exactly are you doing it?  I have Awave, so let me get this straight...
Do you resample the sample in like Sound Forge or your wave editor down to 26,040hz first as per the FAQ's on this here forum, and then resave the sample?  And then bring that file up in Awave and do the MIDI SDS transmit > under Tools?   What if you don't change the file to 26,040hz before hand, and just leave it at 44.1?  Will Awave still do the job and will the 1200 still read the file?

Also, how does it sound?  Cleaner? Punchier? less punchier? etc, etc

ok i still have to compare the 2 sound dump....(alchemy and awave)

however in awave i do this (of course i already assigned blank sample to emu sp1200 in order to get the dump, as the manual say and i was used to make a black floppy with samples silence of right lenght.... i usually have pad A1 to B16 of 0.5 seconds for hit, then C1 and C2 of 1 second each.... but of course u can made as u prefer)

open the waves files
resample all at 26.040
then MIDI SDS trasmit....

and here u set the 12 bit, active the slow preference and send single dump (not work for dump all atm)

here it works.... later in these days i would try to make a comparison with the same files with awave and alchemy, do the same so we can see which sound better and how to do better sound in each one maybe....

however the "click" i was used to hear in alchemy when the sample was trunc cause was too long here there's not....

the quality is the same, also superior....

you have to choose between 9 algorhythm for the Resample....
i think the first one is the really close to the Alchemy one.... also in the test i'm doing i see, as i know, sometimes Alchemy do a digital distorsion in some sample... well here with Awave there's not....

to me is my new one... do the test you too so 2 heads listen better than one

edit

i test some algorhythm and there is one that is really better.... i think i have to check manual to understand the differences between them...

I don't have Alchemy so I can't really do a test.   I just use Sound Forge and Awave 10.

I will try it soon.  Thanks for the information.

I tried this method out at first, works fine but is fiddly (such as the need to have a sound assigned to the pad before transferring - as you said - etc.) and I found it too slow. If I want to get sounds from PC to SP I find it easier and quicker just to sample from the PC audio outs to the SP inputs. I find to get the best sound go into SP inputs with as high a level as possible, to get that SP punchy sound.

yeah totally agree about the sample directly into sp1200... this is only an other way to bring sound into sp1200

however if u manage to let the default algorhythm in awave in resample conversion the sound is pretty cheap... i mean u have to choose a different algorhythm, the FIR filter: 24 bit s/n , and here is totally an other level of quality....

the lack of the "dump all" is the key of all.... if someone could filll all samples at once click, even if it woud be slow, it wouldn't be too much slow if is just one click, and wait 4 minutes without doing nothing....

Depends on your card I guess.  I just sold my Emu 0404 PCI card and upgraded to a Native Instruments Audio 8 interface.  The outputs are hot hot.   Native in Hollywood said on the phone, that they did it on purpose I guess according to the tech support cat I talked to.

Either Awave or direct sampling would work for me.  I just worry about the tails rolling off smoothly.  I do dub techno, and I use the 1200 for more than just beats. So I need my edits to be precise, and using Sound Forge is easier for editing chords and such.  But pick your poison I guess.  If it's not one hassle, it's another.  Just part of the game when working with such an old beautiful beast.
